Jesse Hoffman

Jesse Hoffman is a researcher and teacher at the Urban Futures Studio at Utrecht University. Since his PhD project, the topic of his work concerns how can become experiments with imagining the future as sites for political deliberation, and what researchers can contribute to this. He sees these sites as 'in-between practices' were members of different communities come together and learn with and from each other about alternative possible worlds. Examples are the public exhibition Places of Hope for which he was one of the curators and its design studio for the Peat Meadow districts and he has developed a new form of educational in a 'Mixed Classroom' in which master students and practitioners participate. He is also co-leading a consortium together with professor Maarten Hajer on the way the global energy transition can have positive effects on social equity in different rural and urban contexts around the world.
